Planting Trees

Worldwide, World Environment Day (WED) is observed in numerous ways, from planting trees to cleaning up local beaches to holding meetings to joining online protests. Each year, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) selects a specific issue to focus on. Planting trees may help to enhance ecosystem resilience, reduce climate change impacts, and allow governments and people more time to adapt to new conditions. Placing native seeds in appropriate habitats may also help to restore soil and biodiversity as well as promote human health.
